About The Host

Donald Ray Parish, Jr. was born to the parentage of Donald and Deborah Parish. He is a product of Dallas Independent School District and graduated from the David W. Carter High School. While at Carter High School Donald accepted his call to ministry at the age of seventeen conducting bible study at school, counseling with other students, The Executive Assistants Program, Youth leadership of Dallas and serving as a Peer Mediator ( programs were sanctioned by the Dallas Independent School District). He was selected to the National Who’s Who and the National Young Leaders Conference. He went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin. He quickly started teaching bible study on campus, joined and became President of Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity Inc. While a student he was appointed to serve as the Director of the Minority Information Center on campus, the last student to hold that position. Simultaneously, Donald served as assistant Youth Pastor for the Turning Point Bible Fellowship Church in the city of Austin Texas. While attending The University of Texas, he was elected as one of the Outstanding African American Male on Campus 4 years in a row. After graduating the University of Texas, Donald began his work in ministry in the Dallas community by working with the Step Foundation Inc. His duties included working with troubled teens, and young adults who had been in both a legal and moral crisis. He was subsequently hired by Central Dallas Ministries as Youth Pastor. After a few years he returned to his home church, True Lee Missionary Baptist Church as Assistant Pastor/Youth Pastor/Young Adult Ministry Leader. He is now full time at True Lee Missionary Baptist Church. He is working with schools to help improve campuses. He is also chaplain for Carter High School’s football team. He is the director of Hope Restoration, Inc.’s Summer Camp for the last 5 years. Since the year 2000, Donald has taken young people of collegiate tours which has produced a host of college graduates and beyond. Donald is a board member of Parkland Clinic at Hatcher Station, African American Museum, Tapestry Ministries, Dallas Police Department Community Support Coalition and Dallas Police Department Mental Health and Homeless Board. A few years ago, he went on a medical mission trip to Haiti where he worked to help bring health to people of all faiths, but also preached during revivals. That trip forever changed him and he now has a world view of God and how he interacts with all of mankind. Donald has a spiritual gift of working with people. He is an excellent motivational speaker. He has done many youth and adult revivals, volunteers at many schools in Dallas, premarital counseling and seeks out ways for God to use him. Frustrated by what he is seeing in our culture, Donald has started his own radio/TV show called The Sports Preacher- where he uses sports as an excuse to tackle issues that we all are facing. He also started a popular discussion group on Facebook called Civil Conversations were members openly have dialogue about what is happening in the world. Donald believes that honest and open dialogue is the only way we can solve our issues. Donald is married to Attorney Monica Parish, has three children, Devin, Dawn and Dominique and goddaughters Danielle & Delesia Owens.
